I grew up in Vernon B.C., left for six years of university and then returned to Vernon where I had a busy private counseling practice for twenty years. I have always enjoyed photography and various other forms of creative expression but have not been able to pursue any of them seriously until the past few years following retirement. My particular interest is in photographing all animals, domestic and wild, flowers and landscapes and occasionally candid photos of people.
My other creative pursuits include acrylic painting, singing and playing the djembe. I also belong to a Women’s Art Collaborative that is currently felting a large wall hanging.
Another facet of my creative energy is channeled through aquatic, flower and vegetable gardening. Interspersed throughout I love to ride my horse, hike, backpack, kayak, cycle and ski tour with my husband and dog, all the while keeping my eyes open for photo subjects!
My initial training in digital photography was in the West Kootenay with Louis Bockner (http://eyeofthemind.zenfolio.com/), who holds diplomas from the New York Institute of Photography and the Western Academy of Photography. Following this I have been honored to be mentored by Jim Lawrence, http://kootenayreflections.com/, who studied photography at the Durban Institute of Technology in South Africa and has been photographing wildlife for over thirty years. I cannot adequately express the depth of gratitude I have for all of his help and guidance which brought me to the point of printing and selling my photos, and joining the wonderful group with the West Kootenay Camera Club.
Most of my photos are taken in the Okanagan or the West Kootenay.
